You won’t see many motor carriages as you ride through Oregon’s Old West territory. What you will see is breathtaking scenery, panoramic vistas, historic homesteads and ghost towns, rock formations, swimming holes, rolling wheat fields, desert, farm and forest land.
I’m excited to let you and your customers know about a brand new and totally unique destination for cyclists in Eastern Oregon.
TREO Bike Tours offers groups of four or more an opportunity to safely and comfortably explore the Old West by bicycle with hospitality, support and expert guidance that only a lifelong local like myself can provide.
I have been operating a bird hunting ranch on my family’s homestead near Heppner for more than 25 years, and recently decided to invite Portland area cyclists to enjoy our popular lodge as a home base during the hunters’ off-season.
The ranch is just a 3.5 hour drive from Portland, but a world away from city life. You can ride your bike for miles and miles (and miles!) taking in spectacular scenery without seeing a single vehicle on the road.
Our cycling retreats range from all inclusive complete with family style meals featuring locally sourced fare to DIY. You bring your bikes and we can provide anything else you need to enjoy your rides, including detailed maps, shuttle service, gear transport and a fully equipped sag wagon with food, water, mechanical support and first aid.
TREO lodge features a 6-person hot tub, billiard table and beer on tap. While hunting is not permitted during the cycling season, we do offer visitors the opportunity to try their hand at target and trap shooting on our outdoor ranges.
We can customize tours for groups of any ability or interest. Current offerings include:
- Extensive and diverse paved routes on extremely low traffic roads
- Epic and remote gravel rides
- Bike to raft day trips on the nearby John Day River
- Spectacular guided hiking on private land
